Kona Club Challenge - Flowering Table Runner by Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts

Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts took the Kona Club Challenge this month and made a beautiful table runner. Lorna is a prolific quilter and talented designer. Her blog is a treasure trove of projects, inspiration, tutorials and more! Make sure you follow her on Sew Fresh Quilts.

Lorna used the colors we sent out in April 2014 for Kona Club for her project today. We hope you enjoy this tutorial and make one of your own. We are giving away the fat quarters that Lorna used in this tutorial so be sure to leave a comment on this post to win!

Flowering Table Runner

Hello Kona Quilting Cottons lovers!  Are you up for the Kona Challenge?

My name is Lorna McMahon, a modern quilter, designer and the author of Sew Fresh Quilts.  Today I will be sharing the results of my Kona Challenge project and an easy tutorial for the Flowering Table Runner.   6 Blocks result in a finished runner approximately size 12” x 58”

Back to the Basics!

Do you have a list of goals for 2015?
Quilting techniques you need to try? W.I.Ps you need to get back to? Projects you need to finish?
Here are some staples that you need to meet your goals!

Thread

We have many options for thread. We love Aurifil for piecing and machine quilting, King Tut for machine quilting, Gütermann for piecing and hand quilting, and Kimono Silk™ for hand appliqué and invisible machine appliqué.

Batting

Warm & Natural - 100% Cotton Batting

We love Warm & Natural Batting for Cotton Batting. The cotton fibers are punched with hundreds of needles through a thin base material to prevent tearing, shifting or migrating and the batting washes very well. We have it on the roll and in packages. You can get 4 different sizes - baby, twin, queen and king!

Needles & Pins

You can't do without them!
Our newest love is the Hiroshima Needles from Tulip but we also recommend Richard Hemming for handwork, Schmetz for your machine, and the very reliable Clover pins.
