Show and Share...You Won't Believe It!

About a year and a half ago Cheryl Smith of Magpie Artworks_taught a class at the shop called Cross Stitch into Quilting.

Cheryl had made a quilt called Aquarius that was absolutely breathtaking. It is a translation from Julie Hasler's cross stitch book titled, Fantasy Cross Stitch. Ten thousand 1-inch squares were mounted onto a commercial fusible grid prior to sewing the horizontal and vertical rows. Each square is subsequently stitched by hand using Perl Cotton. Please click here to see more detailed pictures of the quilt: Aquarius.

One of Cheryl's students, Rebecca Sham, brought in her quilt that was made as a result of the workshop. Rebecca's quilt has 30,000 1-inch squares! Rebecca is a fairly new quilter but is tenacious and not afraid to take on a huge challenge. The result is the most amazing quilt I have seen in a long time! Don't you agree?
This quilt is made of 30,000 0.5" finished squares! Close up of the tiger's eye.

Close up of the nose!
