March Buck a Block...Sneak Preview ... and a Little Advice If You Please

On March 1st we will be starting our next Buck A Block Program! This one uses Thangles and a gorgeous Debbie Mumm Christmas Collection of fabric in country red, green and beige. Here is a sneak peak at the center medallion:

This time around you can do just the pieced blocks or you can choose to do the applique centre as well! The project doesn't start until March 1st and sign ups are in the store only while quantities last (although we made dozens!). I'll post another blog entry to remind you on March 1st.

In the meantime I need a little advice...on finishing the applique. While the details are hard to see in the picture...I used a buttonhole stitch around all the pieces and then couched some fluffy white yarn around Santa's cuff's and coat. I can't decide what to do with the wreath ... I'm thinking possibly a little thread painting and then decorating it with a few red beads... what do you think?

Buck A Block Is Ready!

The next round of Buck a Block is ready in the store! This time around the theme is Caribbean Sunset. The quilt is made using Thangles and beautiful Princess Mirah Batiks in shades of hot pink and orange.

Any customer who would like to participate is welcome (this program is for in store shoppers only). Yes, you really do get everything you need to make a pieced block each month for only $1, including the fabric and the pattern!

To join, you must purchase a starter kit that includes a pack of 1.75” Thangles and a storage box from the shop for $7.00. This purchase will provide you with all the Thangles you need to complete all 12 quilt blocks – with plenty to spare. To make the program as convenient as possible, you may visit the shop on any day of the month you choose to pick up your $1 block kit. If you can’t come in during a particular month(s) you must purchase the missed block kit(s) for $3 to once again be eligible for the $1 block kits.

Not Quite A Block of the Month Program

We have a great new program running in the store that we call...Not Quite A Block of the Month.

Here's how it works... when you are in the store grab one of the baggies of fabric. Each one contains enough fabric to make 8 split nine patch blocks. The blocks can be made and used in a variety of ways (much like log cabin blocks). We have two colorways available ... Thimbleberries and 1930s reproductions. You can buy one this month, one next month, then skip three months and join in again. You can scoop up 3 at a time or 5 or 10 ... whatever you like. This program has no rules and no commitments so you can come and go from the program as you please!

1930s Reproductions!

Each month we will have new fabrics all ready for you to collect in each colorway!

The blocks are made using Thangles ... here's a little video to show you how easy they are to use!
