First Stop - British Columbia!

We're off to beautiful BC today!

Our host bloggers for the day are Felicity from Felicity Quilts and Cathy from Blueberry Patch.

Felicity is a "banker by day and a quilter by night" and is an avid blogger. Her work is fresh, modern and fun and she has some great tutorials on her blog as well.

Cathy is an elementary school principal and squeezes her quilting time in on the weekends. It's amazing how much she gets done in those two short days!

Both Felicity and Cathy have chosen lovely fabrics to giveaway so be sure to check out their blogs and enter the giveaways.

Also visit the amazing list of BC bloggers they have on their posts.

Happy Blogathon!

Each blogger will also host a giveaway of their favorite goodies from our store so you have a chance to win prizes all week!

Kicking of the celebration today is Michele from Quilting Gallery. Michele is a quilter and a web developer and combined her passion and her skill to start Quilting Gallery - a site dedicated to quilters and quilting. The site is a great resource for quilters, offering free projects and tutorials, tips and tricks, videos, guest posts, and even a world wide quilt shop locator!

A year after she started Quilting Gallery Michele launched the Quilting Bloggers Directory - a way to connect quilting  bloggers from across the globe. The response has been tremendous! In 2008 - the year of the launch - 2800 bloggers from 61 countries joined the directory and now there are over 5500 blogs from 79 countries listed on the Quilting Bloggers Directory!

Be sure to check out Michele's post for Blogathon Canada on the Quilting Gallery Blog and if you have not added your blog to the Quilting Bloggers Directory... we suggest you do! :)

Fundamentals Sew Along - Week 46

Hi Everyone:

We are at week 46!  Can you believe it.   A block a week for a year and you all will have a beautiful quilt to show for it.

This weeks block is called  Treasure Chest.  It goes together quickly in a similar fashion to last weeks block.  Two large pieced triangles and a centre pieced unit, pieced together diagonally.

First of all you will take your large triangles from colour #1 and #2, piece them together to make a square.  Make four of these.

Sew Large Triangles Together To Make a Square
Next  center and sew fabric #3 triangle to the pieced square. Notice the fold line on the fabric.  That line is showing me where to line up the point of the triangle so that it is centered.

Center Triangle Before Sewing In Place
Repeat this step, folding the fabric in the opposite direction to find the center and line up the other triangle.  This should resemble a flying geese segment with an extra triangle on the bottom.

Add The Second Triangle
Sew the 2 fabric #1 triangles in place creating a large pieced triangle.  Make 2 of these.

Placement For Sewing Triangles
Set these aside for now.   Lay out the 2 flying geese units with the square in the middle and piece them together.
Two Flying Geese Units and A Square
There are 3 pieced segments to this block. Layout 3 diagonal rows and sew rows together.

Sew Rows Together

    Press well to finish.

 See you all next week!
