Color of the Year...Can You Guess What it Is?

The Pantone Color Institute has announced its color of the year...Turquoise! Pantone colors are the standard numbers and colors used in graphic design and publishing and we art school types always fantasize about owning a full set of pantone markers.

According to Pantone: turquoise combines the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green. Turquoise inspires thought of soothing, tropical waters and a comforting escape from the everyday troubles of the world.

Further, because it has both warm and cool undertones, Turquoise pairs nicely with any other color in the spectrum. Turquoise adds a splash of excitement to neutrals and browns, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic maritime look with deep blues, livens up all other greens, and is especially trend-setting with yellow-greens.

What will you do with turquoise this year?

I love turquios, it reminds me of our first ever tropical trip, my first time of seeing the ocean. Our daughter got married on the beach at a beautiful resort in Jamaica almost a year ago, the ocean colour was a beautiful turquios, and our youngest daughter who was the maid of honor wore a darker shade of turquios dress. It's a beautiful memory of an incredible wedding day and a fantastic holiday with our family.

I love turquoise for the summer in clothing and jewellery, it always feels so tropical!!
I think I might have to make a few projects with turquoise to help beat the winter blahs for next winter, now that spring has sprung up north nice and early!!
