Fundamentals Sew Along - Week 39

Hi Everyone:

      I hope you are all enjoying a taste of fall.  I love this time of year, snuggling up under a quilt, or better still hand quilting a new one.

     This weeks block is called Janet's Star.  The first thing you will do is strip piece the two largest triangles together to make a square using colour 1 and 2.  Make four of these.

Next you will assemble your Flying Geese segments.  Make four of these.

Attach your Flying Geese segments to the rectangle (colour 3).

TIP:
When assembling the rectangle to the Flying Geese block, place the rectangle on the bottom.  It will slide over the feed dogs easier.  If you had the  Flying Geese portion  on the bottom chances are the seams would get caught on the feed dogs and flip over.  If there is any distortion of your Flying Geese block this is your opportunity to resolve it.   If you notice the picture below the Flying Geese block is a tiny bit smaller.  I was able to shift it a little and still keep my point on the Flying Geese portion.

Lay out your block segments in the order that they belong.  I put them next to my sewing machine ready to go.
