Judy is going with a row of hexagons in Kona Snow around each flower for her 1930's Reproduction Flower.
Carol (that's me writing the post) needs your help!
I'm doing the brights and I feel like I have many options with the background and I'm not too sure about which one to choose. When I started doing the brights flowers I was pretty sure that I wanted to use Kona White. But when I auditioned the flowers on it I was not so sure. So I put the flowers on some different backgrounds to see what they look like... and I thought I could use your help. What do you think would work? I would most probably do a row of hexagons in the background fabric around the flowers. Do you think Kona White would still work?

Or Kona Black?
I'm also in love with Grays. This is Kona Ash.
Kona - Coal
Kona - Natural
What do you think of the flowers all together? Maybe just a few hexagons in white/natural/coal so I won't need sunglasses when I look at them? :)
What do you think? Would really appreciate your help!

coal
I like the idea of a path of coal separating the flowers.

The black really makes the flowers pop! Very striking. My second choice would be the coal.
I kind of like the Kona Amethyst color. The flowers would stand out.
I think coal looks the best.
Carol, I would use the Kona Coal. I think this will make your colours pop.. Marion
Thank You all for your comments :) looks like Kona Coal is the favorite so far... :)
Black is my favorite, but I lean to brights and contrast. I agree with the Coal choices, too, as it helps blend.
Another vote for Kona Coal.
I like the coal and the ash but have you thought of a lilac or purple?
Bright colours have to go on black!
Brights on black - a must!
I am totally partial to Kona Ash in general, so this is obviously my preferred option!
I think the black is most effective.
I really like the black - it makes the flowers just pop right out of the background and makes it much more striking visually than the other colours
I'm going to add my vote for Kona Coal are well.
The black would be very dramatic but I think might be difficult to live with day to day whereas the coal still give you that pop while at the same time being easier to live with.
coal! a path of coal is just right.
I like your hexagons side by side and I also
Ike them on the coal background.
Another vote for Coal here! But must it be a solid? What about a black and white small polka dot? I love b/w with brights!
OMG Felicity I suggested a black and white polka dot too! We are separated by time and place but still think alike! BFF! Judy
Hey Carol, i like them side by side, it's graphic and a bit crazy. Visually though, it might be a bit jarring for most ;-)
I recently put brights on Kona Natural, and also on Kona Charcoal, and both quilts have a nice modern vibe. the dark grey is cool and urban, while the natural gives a fresh, happy feeling. What kind of feeling do you want for this piece - what is its "mood"?

The coal makes the background fabric the focus, not the beautiful flowers. I would go with ash or natural.
I like the black or coal!
